Hiking Girl

One of the best things in life is being up on the highest mountain you can be on.

Lookout Mountain Trail, Twisp WA. Started out on a winding narrow drive up Lookout Road, past some beautiful views, ponds and cattle. When we got to the trail head we were the only ones there, the wind was biting, headed up the trail quickly lost a layer it is a steep climb at first. 3 Miles RT, 1000 feet elevation gain. After the first steep grade it goes into a lot of switchbacks and it gets easier, still climbing every step of the way but a bit more gradual. Once you reach the top you know why you decided to hike this trail views are spectacular! Ill be posting more pictures of this trail. All in all this was a wonderful hike for a grey might rain type of day.

Tiny hike up in Indian Dan, it was great to get out there, little tiny flowers are starting to bloom, the sunflowers are barely starting we seen like two or 3 plants in bloom. sat on top for a long time just visiting and enjoying the sunshine. Cant wait for the snow to melt and to get out in the mountains.

New hiking shoes came in! Ok so these may not look like good hiking shoes to some, but I wore out a pair of these exact same shoes last year. Hoping to wear out another pair this year!

Hello All!

Yes I did just post all of my hikes of 2011, I never claimed to be on top of things….welll..maybe mountain’s hehe.. Anyways I am already itching to get out and hike again, I look back on all my hikes last year and I think, wow I hardly even hiked, what did I do? There are of course some other hikes last year that I did do, but they were pretty much all up Indian Dan Canyon, where it is equally beautiful just in different ways. I am ready for hiking season 2012!!!

Pacific Crest & Cutthroat Pass Trail, can you actually call snowshoeing a hike? that’smy biggest question, but I guess since I have actually hiked this same trail, I will call it one. We got up there to the trailhead and it was pretty deep snow, but we have this lil hybrid F350 that just paves a way in there, this of course is our very first snowshoeing experience, or maybe just for me, we strap on everything, double check to make sure our snacks are all packed, and we head out. Man alive its fun, a bit different from a hike, but the trail was easy, uphill pretty much all the way, and we didn’t go extremely far, we crossed a creek that was frozen over in different areas but it was still a lil nervy to cross, (I done told you I was a chicken) we had big snowflakes coming down, everything was covered, but it was a blast, tried out running, jumping and being a absolute goober, well worth the trip up Hwy 20 in the snow, we did get snow plowed in our trailhead, we had to jump a snow bank in our hybrid F350.

Stewart Lake Trail, another beautiful hike in the Wenatchee forest near Leavenworth, this year we certainly were made to branch out, the late snow made us venture out into different areas, even though this was a later hike in the year we realized how beautiful this area was and wanted to try it again. My biggest thing is I didn’t get any major mountain views, altho I enjoyed this hike, I like to reach the tops of mountains and look out over Gods beauty.  I did enjoy this hike, the forest and the vegetation was sincerely beautiful, the hike was easy, lots of people on this hike. I would do this hike again, well worth it.

Pacific Crest Trail, Cutthroat Pass, I was convinced before going on this trail that this would be the most beautiful hike I would go on this year, I was not disappointed, it was so spectacular, we did run into snow close to the top but its was just fine, getting to the top and seeing the mountains, oh my I love my mountains, I could have stayed there forever. I had been up Cutthroat from the other side, and had reached the same spot once before, but there was something thrilling about coming up from this side of the mountain. We then wound around a little further on the Pacific Crest trail, but call me a chicken I eventually had to turn around, the trail narrowed on a ledge and it looked ok to pass but i was worried about it storming and visibility on the way back so we turned around and headed back down. So very worth it, this hike will be a must again.
